Butterfly Birthday Card

Hi,

This is the second birthday card which I did for Pauline whose birthday was last week,  Pauline was part of the design team on the CD Sunday Challenge, but has just left due to health problems.
I used Joanna Sheens Enchanted Dreams CD for the image and backing paper.
I added two die cut butterflies and finished off with blue ribbon down the side.  I matted the image on silver glitter card and added a silver peel off happy birthday.

Tatted Minion Birthday Card

Hi,
Last week we had two birthdays with the CD Sunday design team,  This is Carols card,  she is very fond of minions so when I saw this pattern for a minion I knew who would like it.
I used the pattern by Sarah Wood,  I  don't have a link for her pattern but I did get it from Craftree.com.
I used coats no 20 thread, the blue is a bit pale but it looks OK,  and black lizbeth thread no 20 for the feet, hands, and hair.
The card I glued the minion on white glitter card added two felt rose flowers, and finished off with white ribbon and silver peel offs.
I am so glad Carol liked it,

CD Sunday Challenge - Sketch

Hi,
This fortnight its Carols turn to chose the theme and she has chosen a Sketch to use as well as anything from a CD.
My card this fortnight is from the CD Gnomes and Faries by La Pashe,  I love this CD,   I used the backing paper and image to match,  I printed out two and decoupaged her in the bath,  matted the image on some dark pink card,  used the same card for the happy birthday circle and the spiral rose die,  The ribbon is a shaded pink and pink gems in the two corners.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend

Happy Easter

Hi,
Happy Easter,  the sun is shining but its quite cold here, it was such a beautiful weekend, last week and very warm for the time of year and now we have gone backwards  into the cold.  Hopefully summer is not too far away.
Today I have two tatted ice drops for you both are the same pattern called Spring Garden by Diane,  the top one is tatted in variegated yellow with a gold glass gem and the other is a blue thread with blue beads instead of the picots and a blue glass gem in the middle,  both threads are old I found them in the bottom of the draw and thought it was time I used them up,   they are both coats no 20.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.

CD Sunday Challenge - Spring colours

Hi,
Another fortnight gone by and here is another challenge from the CDSunday Challenge team,  this fortnight please help us celebrate our 7th Birthday which is on the 18th between the two challenges. So we are using this fortnights challenge of  Spring Colours chosen by Pauline to celebrate.
These birthday celebrations could becopme a permanent thing because when we had one last year and you supported us so well that we deiceded to add a speical gift to our winner for this 7th birthday and hope you will all support us again.
So please make something with Spring colours and the winner of the top 3 will become the proud owner of the following additional prize - donated by a team member.
Secret Slider

Please remember to use something from a CD - and tell us which one.  it would be an awful chame to do wonderful work and then not qualify for such a prize.

For this card I used A walk in the countryside CD for the backing and image,  I printed out two images and decoupaged the image making it looked puffed out.   Matted the image on yellow card and placed a yellow die cut butterfly in the corner,   the flower spray has an ivy die spray and two parchment flowers with leaves.
Finished off with a birthday peel off.

International Tatting Day

Hi,
Today is International Tatting Day,   its an important day for us tatters as we usually get to go out and tat in public,   not sure I will be able to but you never know I might find somewhere to tat when I go shopping.
For over 25 years tatters all over the world have been celebrating International Tatting Day.   As the news letter from BellaOnline.com said she wish she could say what tatters were tatting 200 years ago but we can't. Possibly hanky edgings and doily's just the same as today, well similar in fact some of the patterns still exist and are still being tatted and brought up to date.  But one things for sure they wont have been tatting the Ice Drops.
The yellow Ice Drop is Diane's pattern Purple Fudge Ice Drop,  I used some yellow coats variegated no 20 thread,  its quite old and I have no idea when I brought it but with the white and a gold glass gem in the middle,  I did a different hanging chain for this one,  with 5 flipped and 5 unflipped stitches,  I think I should have followed the pattern better and did a lock chain on the the small rings at the top of the chains, never mind I am pleased with it and it looks real spring like.

This is Diane's pattern called Root Beer Fudge Ice Drop,  for this one I used Grape Pizzaz in no 20,  the beads are pale pink they only just show up in the picture and the center is a plain white glass gem,  the hanging chain I did a spiral stitches.

Here is a link to Diane's blog for the patterns

Have a good day and Happy tatting

Pinterest Challenge - Pin chicks

Hi,                                                                                                              Its time for another Pinterest challenge from the Pin Chicks,   this time its tatting from me.                                                                                       I start with the bookmark above,  its in Lizbeth thread Grape Pizzaz no 20.  Below is the pattern its looks like a Japanese pattern but I have no clue who designed it.

Do you remember this angel I did for the December Challenge and the ink from the pattern got on the white angel well here she is again but this time in perfect condition,  She is the Dimpled Angel By Lenore English.  Tatted in Lizbeth thread no 20 in white

This is the Onion ring snowflake,  I did enjoy tatting this snowflake,  the above one is in plain white and the other one is white and purple thread,  both are in Lizbeth thread No 20.  The original pattern is by Mrs R.R. Richardson and has been updated by Wally Sosa.  link to the pattern

I hope you will pop over and visit the other pin chicks and see what they have done for this challenge
links to their blogs,  Margaret,    Suzanne    and Carollyn

Renuleks Snow Frywolitkowa Napkin 2012/13

Hi,

This is my UFP  unfinished project,  actually Vernon calls it my work in progress,   well its been a long time in progress,  I finally got it out of the bag about two weeks ago and thought perhaps I should make the effort and finish it,   well after a press and only another row to do here it is,  it was badly creased but with a wash when its finished and a good blocking it will look a lot better.
I started this mat in October 2012,  and last night I started the last round,  its going to take a while its a big round.  At the moment it measures 18 inches across.
Its tatted in Lizbeth thread  Sea Island Citrus no 20.
This is my only unfinished work and before I start my next project I think I better finish this,
I will post a picture when its finished and I can finally say hooray.  I got so bored  and fed up with it,  that I just put it in a bag and left it,   its been nice to come back to it afresh.

CD Sunday challenge - Any Old Iron

 Hi,
Time for another Challenge at the CD Sunday Challenge blog and this time its Jocelyn's choice,   Any Old Iron
When I first saw this title I had no idea what to do,  it took quite a bit of thought,  having thought of a rag and bone man which we never see any more,   I could not get an image I liked but looking at the free images on google I found two of Steptoe and son.
Now I am of an age that remember these programs and after I lot of playing around with some die cuts,  distressing them and cutting bits off them this is what I came up with.
The backing paper came from the Crafters Compendium free CD which was free a couple of months ago,  originally this card was for the last challenge but I changed my mind as to the shape and then used it for this card.   I matted the images onto a dark gray a piece of card before putting them onto a lighter piece of embossed gray card.   I wanted to keep it to limited colours as the programs where in black and white.  The sentiment I generated on the computer.

Baby's Knitting

Hi,
Spring is here with the daffodils out but the weather over the weekend is not what you would call spring,  its windy and its been raining,  no sun yet today.
This is a little baby's jacket and hat I knitted in a salmon colour I have done the pattern many times before,  starting at the neckline and working down.it would fit 0 to 3 months.
The pattern is Marianne's Famous Top-down- with sleeves.

This is a lovely white baby's blanket,  its in double knitting wool and the pattern is called Lilac Blossom Baby Blanket,  The pattern is in lilac but I had a lot of white wool so I knitted in white.
It measures 22 inches wide and 29 inches long

Here is a link for both  patterns

Both items are on my Facebook page for sale

Have a lovely weekend

CD Sunday Challenge - Enjoy (tea or coffee)

Hi,
Another challenge from the CD Sunday challenge blog,  gosh the fortnights go quick,  this fortnight its my challenge and I am using a photo for my challenge called Enjoy (tea of coffee).   I saw this picture in a cafe in Polyochrome in Halikidi Greece.  We used to sit and have a drink and I knew when I saw the picture on the wall outside the cafe that it would make a great challenge.   So its using colours from the picture enjoying a tea of coffee.

This is my card, I did use the image as you can see,  the backing paper was from the  Crafters Companion compendium free Cd which they gave out a couple of months ago,  I seem to be using it a lot at the moment,   I made a step card and the lilac card marches the words in the picture exactly,  I used a die cut of a tea pot and cup and placed them on a silver card, and finished off the card with silver peel offs.  Below is a side view of the card

I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site,  and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.  Here is a link to CD Sunday Challenge blog  we would be pleased to see you.

Happy St Davids Day - Daffodil Ice Drop

Hi,
Happy St Davids Day,
Ice drops have taken the tatting world by storm and this is an idea I came up with when I looked at a bunch of daffodils,   It was a try and see but when I put it on Ice Drops Facebook page they went wild for it,
The pattern is partly the ice drop pattern and then an extra round of rings joined around the ice drop again.  I used the idea from the pattern Daffodil brooch for St David’s Day by Jennifer Williams.  It worked well.
Below is two the original all in yellow and one with white rings around the glass gem  / nugget,   I am pleased with my idea at first I thought it was just something that had not worked but all the ladies on ice drops loved it,  so I must have done something OK.
Have a lovely day.

Hugs
Margaret

CD Sunday Challenge - Punch it out

Hi,
This fortnight the CD Sunday Challenge is Punch it out chosen by Wynn,  she wants to see punches and dies used as well as something from a CD of course.
This has been a hard card to photo I have tried with so many backgrounds so I hope these photos show you the card clearly.
I went for a different shape and I used the backing paper from Joanna Sheens Enchanted Dreams,  and used several dies and butterflies to make the card and finished it off with some gems on the bodies of the butterflies.   I did enjoy making this card more than I did photoing it.
I hope you will visit the CD Sunday Challenge site, and remember if you want to enter the challenge you must use something from a CD no matter how small and let us know which CD you used.   Here is a link to the CD Sunday Challenge blog,   we would be pleased to see you.
Have a lovely weekend
Take care

Tatted Ice Drop Snowflakes

Hi,
Gosh today the weather is so different after the storm names Doris yesterday,  although we were not in the worse part of the storm is certainly gave us a good bashing.  Now its heading for Russia they can have it,  today the sun is shining I have been out in the garden just doing a bit of tidying up.
I thought you might like to see my Ice Drop Snowflakes, I used Renuleks Snowflakes from her napkin sniezynkowa in 2012 here is the link for the pattern.
I did one with picots and the other has beads both look really good with the clear glass nugget in the middle.
I did a spiral chain to hang them as the glass nugget is on the heavy side the spiral chain holds the weight better.
I used Lizbeth thread no 20 for both Ice drops

I am really enjoying tatting these at the moment,  I am about to start a large project for myself more about that in the coming weeks.
Have a lovely weekend
Hugs

Tatted Snowflake Ice Drops

Hi,
Just two more Snowflake Ice Drops,   I tatted these with white Lizbeth thread no 20 and used Diane's Snowflake pattern, I put beads instead of the Josephine knots and a Spiral chain to hang them by.
I really am enjoying making these Ice Drops and there's more to come.  I have been looking for different patterns which I can adapt,
As they say watch this space.

Valentines Day Hearts/Ice drop Heart

Hi,
Happy Valentines Day,
Would you believe that I found two patterns for hearts both called Valentines Hearts,
These two hearts are from a pattern called Valentines Day Heart by Edda Guastalla this is the link I have,  the pattern is in Italian but there is a diagram which is easy to work from.
I used Lizbeth thread Springtime and Green Coral Sea no 20.
I still have the thread to sew in the bottom one,  but I did like the pattern and will be making more.

Ice Drop Valentine Heart

This pattern is also called Valentine Heart by Etha Schuette and I have made it into an ice drop heart,  I used some old coats thread which I have had for a very long time, no idea when I brought it but its a variegated red,  the red glass nugget was too dark so I put a clear one in.  its not perfect there are two mistakes,  but I am happy with it.  link to the pattern I have is.    I am making another one hopefully that will be prefect.
Hope you have a great day
                                       Hugs
